I went to New York City a few days before NYCC and was able to go to some of the designer toy shops. One of which was My Plastic Heart. For such a tiny little place it sure does make quite an impression on the toy scene. I happened upon Doktor A setting up his show “Postcard from New Yorkshire”. I came back a few days later for the opening and was very impressed. The pieces are a combination of customs and originals with found objects. They all fit seamlessly into his Mechtorians world.
You can see the pieces up close on the MPH website and his own blog.

Mattel is trying to make a new Castle Grayskull for the MOTUC line! It’s a massive undertaking so they need a minimum amount of preorders. The castle will be $250 if you pre order, plus shipping (probably about another $50 for me). We have until the 12th of November to reach the minimum.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and will cement MOTUC as one of the best toy lines ever. Seriously, this is getting close to Palisades Muppet epicness here.

My first Glyan and Phaseon! I picked them up directly from the Onell crew at NYCC last week. It was a pleasure to meet them in person. The tales of Matt’s legendary niceness are not exaggerated. These two little dudes were mostly free! They are a combination of two Glyans, two Phaseons and a Hub set.
In my ‘verse they are a team that operates outside the Glyan military to perform covert strikes on the renegade Gendrones and the Sincroid abominations.

If I hadn’t just spent over $200 on MOTUC this would be mine.

G.I. Joe Production Process (Vintage)
This is an interesting and detailed article on the production process used to create Joes from 1982-1994. I knew most of this but it’s great to see it all laid out with great visuals.

The classic Action Force series two advert from Autumn 1983 introduced the Red Shadows, SAS Force and Z Force to an unsuspecting world.
Including the first teams to hit the shelves, the advert hit the gogglebox at the same time the first copies of Battle Action Force were available free in toyshops. Palitoy had clearly opted for shock and awe on the marketing front.
Best viewed on ITV as the children’s programming ended and the ever dramatic trailer for the News at 545 was played, we’re still waiting for ‘more news … as it happens’.
EPIC.
Action Force is an extension of G.I. Joe I know very little about. It looks like they were pretty cool.

Leader
This is based on an illustration by Jamiyla Lowe. I have known Jamiyla since highschool and we both ended up in Toronto at OCAD.
I saw “Leader” at Le Gallery a couple years back and knew I had to make a toy of it. This is the Idol version. Another version with a realistic paint job and worshipping monks will be coming in the future.
